La barca di San Pietro non si muove agile come un motoscafo, ma piuttosto come una vecchia corazzata, un enorme portaerei, o una grande nave da crociera (per non rimanere per forza in tema bellico!). Sicuramente, più lentamente di quanto vorrebbero alcuni — che spesso perdono la pazienza per la sua lentezza ed apparenti inerzia, ma più inesorabilmente di quelli che vorrebbero altri — che s’illudono di poterne fermare la marcia …

The barque of St Peter is not agile like some speedboat, but moves rather like an old ironclad, a huge aircraft carrier, or a large cruise liner (not to remain in military imagery!). It surely goes slower than some would hope — who often lose patience for its slowness and apparent inertia, but more inexorably of what others would wish — and who illude themselves that they may stop its progress.
